Portable LAN Messaging and File Sharing

Thank you for downloading TreeTalk Node.

TreeTalk Node is a portable Windows application for local network
(LAN) messaging and direct file sharing between devices.


QUICK START
-----------
1. Extract the ZIP archive to any folder.
2. Run "TreeTalk_Node.exe".
3. No installation is required.
4. No administrator rights are required.


ABOUT PORTABLE MODE
-------------------
TreeTalk Node is a single-file portable application:
- No installer
- No background services
- No system file modifications

All settings are stored locally for the current user.


WINDOWS DEFENDER AND BROWSER WARNINGS
------------------------------------
Because TreeTalk Node is a new application and is distributed as a
portable executable, Windows Defender or your web browser may show
a warning during download or on first launch.

This is a common false positive for new software.

TreeTalk Node:
- Does NOT contain malware
- Does NOT install system services
- Does NOT require administrator privileges
- Does NOT modify system files

If Windows SmartScreen appears:
1. Click "More info"
2. Click "Run anyway"


NETWORK BEHAVIOR (TRANSPARENCY)
-------------------------------
TreeTalk Node communicates only on your local network.

It uses:
- UDP for peer discovery on the local LAN
- Direct device-to-device connections for messaging and file transfer

No data is sent to external servers unless explicitly configured.


ENCRYPTION
----------
Optional encryption can be enabled in Settings.
When enabled, messages and file transfers are protected
between paired devices.


TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------
If the application does not start:
- Ensure the ZIP archive was fully extracted
- Do not run directly from inside the ZIP
- Check that your antivirus did not quarantine the file

If devices do not discover each other:
- Ensure all devices are on the same local network
- Check that local firewall allows UDP traffic for TreeTalk Node
- Verify that multiple network adapters are configured correctly
